About Us
Peter Myers
Peter's experience of designing and making started in 1980 when he
graduated from Leeds Polytechnic with a degree in Three-Dimensional
Design, and that year won the Royal Society Furniture Design
competition.
Using his skills as an artist, designer, and craftsman,
Peter concentrated on providing advice and products (made mostly from
metal and wood) to people with older properties to furnish and restore.
During the eighties and early nineties, he worked extensively in London, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Kent, and France.
The
course at Hereford contributed to Peter's design knowledge in metal,
and allowed him to design and produce work incorporating the
traditional methods of the smith with modern design briefs. Peter recently moved to Surrey from Gloucestershire to be
nearer London, but he still has regular clients all around the West and
South East of England.
George Orange
George started when he was 14, designing and building his own
three-wheeled motorbike as a school project, and has always been
interested in engineering. This is approximately when he started
working with Peter, learning the Art of Blacksmithing and restoration
work. He has worked on and off with Peter ever since. They've finally
teamed up.
George was formally trained at RADA in Stage Management and
Theatre Production, where he specialised in scenic construction which
involved both carpentry and metalwork. Through this he learnt valuable
skills such as welding, and generally the precision required to create
a quality piece. Having completed RADA earning a Distinction, he worked
as a self-employed scenic operative, where he was helping to build
shows such as Chicago, and Daisy Pulls It Off.
George built his own water-cooled forge in 1996, and has been forging ever since.
